About GalvInfo Center

The GalvInfo Center, a program of the International Zinc Association, was established in 1999 to serve current and potential users of steel sheet coated with zinc-containing coatings. The core activity of the Center is to provide technical information and support to direct inquiries about the application, performance, and unique terminology of these products.  New users need to have information readily available, and it is important that the products they select be used properly, to insure their performance meets expectations.  Prior to the establishment of the GalvInfo Center, there was no one source for getting answers to technical questions about coated steel sheet.

The GalvInfo Center provides technical assistance to users and potential users of zinc-coated steel sheet, increases awareness on the behavior and performance of zinc-coated steel sheet and assists with growing the markets for zinc and zinc-alloy coated steel sheet.

The GalvInfo Center houses the GalvInfo Library, which contains a vast amount of technical literature on galvanizing.

The core sponsors and partners of the GalvInfo Center include, but are not limited to, the following companies:

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel Corporation, ICZ - Instituto de Metais Não Ferrosos, Majestic Steel USA, National Galvanizing, Steel Dynamics Inc. Steelscape, Inc. The Techs: MetalTech. NexTech. GalvTech, USS Posco, Universal Metal Coating Company - UNICOIL, Teck, Nexa

The GalvInfo Center regularly holds production Hot-Dip Galvanized Sheet Production Courses, primarily in the United States. This year's training course will take place in Chicago, USA, on May 27–28, 2026. We welcome your registration. For detailed information, please log on to https://www.galvinfo.com/virtual_hdgc_2022/

This course provides a comprehensive overview of hot dip galvanized sheet production.  The course covers coating line production processes, including annealing, coating weight control, galvannealing, post galvanizing surface treatments, and coated sheet defects, as well as zinc bath management principles and technology.

The course deals primarily with the operation of continuous galvanizing lines, including the metallurgical processes involved.  A review and listing of key process variable is included.  Time will be allowed in each module for questions, along with general questions at the end of the course.
